CLEVELAND, Miss. – In conditions that mirrored a water park in winter time, the Delta State University women's soccer team defeated Spring Hill College, 3-0, in a rain-shortened match on Thursday, Oct. 25 at Delta Field. The Lady Statesmen (8-8-1, 5-7GSC) established a new school record for GSC wins in a season with five, topping the previous mark set by the 2008 squad.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Anoucke Bass put the Lady Statesmen up 1-0 in the 41st minute on a blast from 20 yards out. The shot ricocheted off the crossbar and found the back of the net. It was her fourth goal of the season.
- In the 55th minute, Anna Whitehead took Erin Longsden's pass and sent a shot past SHC's keeper for a 2-0 advantage. It was also her fourth goal of the season.
- Camila Sevillano rounded out the scoring for DSU, blasting a penalty kick to the back of the net in the 70th minute for a 3-0 final.
- Amanda Hilliard played all 70 minutes in goal, making one save. The freshman from Baton Rouge, La., improved to 6-3-1 on the year with three shutouts.
STAT OF THE GAME:
- The Lady Statesmen out-shot Spring Hill 14-2.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS:
- Delta State was lights out defensively, holding the Badgers to a mere two shots, including one on goal.
- The Lady Statesmen's eight wins are the second most in a regular season in program history.
