Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College (2-0) placed three players in double figures to upend the Delta State University (0-2) men's basketball 79-74 at the GSC/SSC Crossover on Saturday.
Brett Warner led three Statesmen in double figures with 20 points followed by
Cedric Harper with 16 and
Matthew Wilson with 12 points.
Jonathan Lawton scored 21 points to lead the Mocs' scoring followed by Brett Hanson with 15 and Slinky Jones with 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- An Armon Benford layup gave the Statesmen a 17-11 lead midway through the first half.
- The Statesmen held a 25-22 lead before a 15-2 run put the Mocs up 37-27 after a pair of Kai Cleary free throws with 2:31 remaining in the first half.
- Overall the Mocs closed the first half on an 18-8 run to take a 40-33 lead at the half.
- The Statesmen outscored FSC 13-6 to open the second half, tying the game on a Mathew Wilson 3-pointer at the 15:58 mark.
- A Deandre Campbell layup opened up a 66-58 lead 9:06 left in the second half.
- FSC went up 73-64 after a Cleary 3-pointer with a 5:06 to go.
- The Statesmen got to within three points with 15 seconds left before FSC made two free throws to earn the 79-74 win.
