Sharks Rally Past Lady Statesmen, 70-62

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. –
Nova Southeastern University (1-0) used a big fourth quarter to upend the Delta State University women's basketball team (0-1) 70-62 at the GSC/SSC Crossover on Friday.

Nova Southeastern outscored the Lady Statesmen 27-10 in the fourth quarter and used 14-0 run that spanned the end of the third and start of the fourth quarters to erase a 10-point deficit.

INSIDE THE FLOW
  • Trailing 11-8, Rush nailed a 3-pointer and followed by a Johnson basket to put DSU in front 13-11 with 3:44 left in the first quarter.
  • Chapman's layup gave put the Lady Statesmen a 19-15 advantage with 32 seconds to go before NSU made two free throws cut the lead to 19-17 at the end of the quarter.
  • A Patterson jumper at the 5:24 mark gave DSU a 27-20 lead before taking a 31-28 lead at intermission.
  • The Green-and-White grabbed a 43-33 lead following a Ewing basket midway through the third period.
  • The lead grew to 52-40 on Federica Haywood's layup with 37 seconds to go in the third before a Conley 3-pointer cut the DSU lead to 52-43 heading into the final quarter.
  • The Conley 3-pointer kick-started a 14-0 NSU run that erased the deficit and give the Sharks 57-52 lead after a Conley layup with 7:01 remaining in the fourth quarter.
  • NSU outscored the Lady Statesmen 27-10 in the fourth quarter to take the win.
