CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State University women's basketball (7-3, 3-1 GSC) hit the road to take on the Arkansas-Monticello (3-5, 2-2 GAC) at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Steelman Fieldhouse.
The Lady Statesmen are 7-3 and 3-1 in the Gulf South Conference after their seven-game winning streak snapped with a 71-65 set back to No. 1 Union University on Monday.
Quantesha Patterson, who has been hampered with an injury in the early going, is averaging 12-points and 7.6 rebounds for the Lady Statesmen.
Nia Johnson follows with 11 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while
Frederica Haywood leads the Lady Statesmen and ranks second in the GSC with 9.4 boards per game.
Delta State is sixth in the GSC in scoring defense (60.5 ppg.) and is eighth in scoring offense (64.6 ppg.). The Lady Statesmen are forcing 19 turnovers per game, including forcing a season 29 turnovers against Mississippi College on Sat., Dec. 15.
The Cotton Blossoms enter the game 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the Great American Conference, capturing their third straight win with a 79-70 win over Henderson State in Arkadelphia on Saturday. UAM was picked to finish 12
th in the GAC preseason poll but recently posted wins over second-place pick Arkansas Tech and fourth-place pick HSU,
McKenzie Johnson ranks second the GAC, averaging 19.5 points per game and Chari Swift is scoring 13.3 per contest. Berniezha Tidwell saw her first action of the season against Henderson State, scoring 20 points with six rebounds and two assists.
Swift is grabbing 7.1 rebounds per game (7
th GAC) while Tidwell collects 6.0 boards per game.

th while their 60.88 scoring defense ranks third in the latest GAC stats.
