ABOUT DELTA STATE:

  • WARNER BEATS THE HORN, SINKS FALCONS: Junior Brett Warner drained his second buzzer-beating shot in the last calendar year. Warner's triple from straight away beat the buzzer by 0.3 seconds as the Statesmen edged Montevallo 58-55 on the road. Warner's shot makes two game-winners in the last 364 days, after his first game-winning shot in a DSU uniform, a right-wing triple, downed Shorter 82-81 on Feb. 11, 2017.
  • DAVIS DOING HIS PART: Senior forward PJ Davis continues to help spearhead offensive and defensive attacks. The Cleveland, Miss. native is averaging 15.9 points per game, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.5 blocks per game. Davis leads the team in rebounding (150 total - 57 Off., 93 Def.) and blocks (38), and ranks second in the GSC in blocks per game (1.5).

Davis has climbed into the top 10 in school history in rebounding, as he sits in 8th with 705 career boards. He needs nine rebounds to pass Devin Schmidt and Norris Ashley, who sit tied for seventh all-time with 713. Davis has played in every game since his freshman year, totaling 116 games played and 64 starts, which ties him for 6th place with Jack Madgen (2012-2016). Davis' 192 blocks is a school record and 4th all-time in the GSC. He needs four more to pass Jon Rogers (195 blocks for Valdosta State from 2002-2006) for third place in GSC history. He is also 10th in made field goals (493), 8th in made free throws (245) and 7th in free throws attempted (359).
