VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Valdosta State held the Delta State University softball team scoreless for 13 out of 14 innings in a two-game sweep in Gulf South Conference action, on Saturday at Steel's Diamond.

GAME CHANGER:
- With a runner on second base, Valdosta State took advantage of an error to score the game-winning run in the eighth inning.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Both teams recorded nine hits.Â
- Carli Vice lead the Lady Statesmen with three hits
. Kailyn Lofton (2-for-4) was the only other DSU player with multiple hits.
- Vice and
Jordan Jones each had a double.

KEY PLAYS:
- After scoring a pair of runs in the third, VSU added three in the fourth on a two-RBI triple and a sacrifice fly.
- The Lady Statesmen stormed back in the fifth, tying the game at five, using a fielder's choice RBI from
Abi Gibson, an RBI single by VICE, a two-RBI double by Jones and a run scoring
  single by Marrisa Landrum.
- The Lady Statesmen had a chance to take the lead in the sixth, as they loaded the bases with one out, but lined into a double play to end the threat. .
- VSU won the game in the eighth when Lacy Crandall scored from second after an error.

- Lofton has recorded two hits in three straight games.
- Johnson has not allowed an earned run in her last 15 innings.
- Jones has recorded an extra base hit in two straight games.
