CLEVELAND, Miss. - For some the first Wednesday of February is just another day at work, but for Delta State University head football coach Todd Cooley and his staff, it's the day they get to welcome new young men from across the country to the #DSUFamily. The Statesmen officially added 33 to the family during the course of the day. With the seven transfers DSU welcomed in January and the Green-&-White close the 2018 signing period with 40 new student-athletes.

"Our coaches have worked very hard to identify the best talent out there to add to our family," Cooley said. "This class features some amazing talent on the field and excellent character off of it. Today was a great one for Statesman football and the #DSUFamily! The future is extremely bright for our program."

Wednesday's signing class included 33 freshmen and one junior college transfer. The class includes seven offensive linemen, seven linebackers, six wide receivers/tight ends, five defensive backs, four defensive linemen, one running back, one quarterback and one kicker.

"We've addressed the areas where we believed there was the greatest need," Cooley added. "This class will blend well with the nucleus of Statesmen we have returning this fall. I'm excited to have them all joining the #DSUFamily and I know they're ready to get here and compete."

Fans are invited to the 3rd annual Signing Day Social tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Country Club. Cooley and his staff will be in attendance to discuss the class and provide updates on the spring, renovation projects currently underway and the 2018 schedule.
