CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University softball team got back in the win column as it swept a non-conference doubleheader from Arkansas Monticello, on Tuesday at University Field. DSU held off UAM 7-4 in game one and earned a 3-0 victory in the nightcap.

GAME CHANGER:
- The Lady Statesmen scored what proved to be the game-winning runs in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by
Madison Bigner and an RBI single by  Â

Mallory Myers.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Statesmen outhit the visitors 11-7.
- Myers, Bigner and
Jordan Jones led DSU with two hits apiece.

Kaitlyn Eaves, Bigner, and Myers all drove in two runs each.

Mari Alex Sandridge (2-7) allowed just one hit through the first six innings, before surrendering four runs on five hits in the seventh.
- Bigner allowed a hit in one inning of relief.
KEY PLAYS:
- Eaves had an RBI single in the first to open up the scoring.
- DSU scored a pair in the third on an RBI single by Jones and a sacrifice fly by Eaves.
- With the Lady Statesmen up 4-0 in the fifth, Bigner's home run and Myers' single gave the Lady Statesmen a 7-0 cushion.
- After recording just one hit through the first six innings, UAM had five straight singles in the seventh. The Cotton Blossoms scored four runs, before Bigner
 struck out a pair to finish the game.

- The victory gave head coach
Casey Bourgoyne-Charles her 250th win of her career.
- Myers is now tied for the team lead with eight multi-hit games.

- Both teams had five hits.
- Jones and Eaves drove in a run apiece. Jones led the Lady Statesmen, scoring a pair of runs.Â
- Johnson (6-7) allowed five hits and struck out four batters.
KEY PLAYS:
- DSU opened the scoring in the opening inning on a sac fly by Eaves.
- The Lady Statesmen scored two more in the fifth, using an RBI triple by Jones and a wild pitch.
- UAM left runners on base in five innings.
NOTEWORTHY:
- DSU has recorded four shutout wins this season. Johnson was the winning pitcher in two of those.
