CLEVELAND, Miss. – Zack Shannon went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and six RBIs to lead the No. 2 ranked Delta State University baseball team to a 10-4 victory over Auburn University-Montgomery on Sunday, March 4 at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field in the series finale. The Statesmen (14-1, 6-0 GSC) have won 14-straight, including all six in league play.

THE RUNDOWN
- After a two-out double to left-center by Brian Lane, Zack Shannon singled to center to plate Lane and give the Statesmen the early 1-0 lead on the Warhawks in the bottom of the first.
- The Warhawks took a 3-1 lead in the top of the third inning, as Nathan Langley stroked a two RBI triple to right-center, scoring Matthew Zielonko and Donovan Chandler. Jonathon Brandt followed with a sac-fly RBI to right for the third run of the inning.
- After back-to-back doubles by Langley and Brandt, Aaron Hill laced a single through the left side to extend AUM's lead to 4-1 in the top of the fifth inning.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Emil Ellis jumpstarted the rally with a two-run home run to left. After Lane was hit by a pitch, Zack Shannon launched his ninth home run of the year over the wall in left-center to put the Statesmen up 5-4. A throwing error by AUM third baseman Parker Moman allowed Juwan Burney to score from third to tack on a run.
- Shannon gave the Statesmen some extra breathing room in the bottom of the sixth, launching his second home run of the game over the wall in left. The three-run shot was his 10th of the season and gave the Statesmen a 9-4 lead.
- Jason Popovich's sac-fly RBI in the bottom of the seventh put DSU up 10-4.

- 3 – Delta State smashed three home runs in the win, including a pair by Shannon and one from Ellis.
AT THE PLATE
- Shannon went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs (10) and a season-high six RBIs.
- Ellis finished the day 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a two-run home run.
- Lane closed out the game going 2-for-4 with three runs scored. It was the senior's 10th multiple hit game of the year.
- Langley led AUM at the plate while going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs.
ON THE MOUND
- Delta State starter Hayden Davey worked 3.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
- Three Statesmen worked in relief, including Tyler Walton, who earned the win after throwing 4.0 scoreless innings of relief. The sophomore transfer from the University of Memphis gave up two hits and struck out three Warhawks.
- Hank Scott, who took the loss, pitched 4.2 innings for the Warhawks in the start. The sophomore allowed six runs, five earned, on seven hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
NOTEABLES
- Lane extended his team-leading hitting streak to 11 games with a first inning double to left-center. The senior from Spanish Fort, Ala., has reached base safely in every game this season for DSU.
- Shannon homered twice in a game for the third time this season, giving him 10 on the year and extending his hitting streak to eight games. The Cincinnati, Ohio native has 29 career home runs, moving him into a fifth-place tie with John Edwards (1980-1983) and Jason Cochran (1998-1999).
