CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Lee scored four runs in the third and seventh innings to defeat the Delta State University softball team 11-6, in Gulf South Conference action, on Saturday at University Field.

- Lee took advantage of a DSU error, scoring three runs on a bases loaded double, to take a 5-2 lead in the third inning.

Kelly Byrd and
Jordan Jones led the Lady Statesmen with two hits apiece. Byrd also had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs.
- Five other DSU players had at least one hit.

Taylor Johnson (9-8) allowed seven runs, four earned, on 10 hits in three innings.

Mari Alex Sandridge gave up four unearned runs, on three hits, in four innings of relief.
KEY PLAYS:
- The Lady Flames took took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Lady Statesmen answered with
  an RBI double by Byrd and a run scoring single by Marrisa Landrum.
- Lee tacked on four runs, to take a 5-2 lead, in the third on an RBI groundout and a three-RBI double by
  Claudia Jones.
- The visitors added two more runs in the fourth on a two-RBI single.
- DSU answered with three runs in the fifth on an RBI single by
Abi Gibson and and a double by Byrd.
- Lee took advantage of another error to score four insurance runs in the seventh.
