JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Delta State University Softball team scored seven runs in the eighth inning to pull away for a 12-5 victory over Union, in Gulf South Conference action, on Monday at Fesmire Field. With the victory, DSU earned a victory in the series.

- The Lady Statesmen took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Byrd and a sacrifice
 bunt by Vice.
- Union responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring one run on an RBI single by Sarah Smith.
- Vice gave the Lady Statesmen a 3-1 lead with her solo home run in the third.
- The Lady Statesmen took the lead for good in the second inning with an RBI double by Jones and a singleÂ
  by Vice.
- Union scored three in the fourth, to take a 4-3 lead, using an RBI double by Samantha McDaniel and a
  two-RBI single by Gabby Morris
- In the fifth, Landrum gave the Lady Statesmen a 5-4 advantage with a two-RBI single.
- The hosts answered in the bottom half of the inning with a two out RBI single by Ashten Petty.
- Fullilove forced Union to leave runners stranded on third in the sixth and seventh innings.
- DSU exploded for seven runs, to complete the scoring, in the eighth inning highlighted by the home run by
