Erin Longsden scored three goals to help the Delta State University women's soccer team claim a 4-0 victory over Hendrix College, in a non-conference contest, on Wednesday at Delta Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Longsden opened the scoring in the 12th minute, following a shot from Casey LaFontaine and beating the keeper in the top left corner.
- Longsden scored her second of the match 13 minutes later, off an assist from Anna Whitehead.
- After the first 45 minutes, the Lady Statesmen held an 11-5 advantage in shots.
- Diana Okechukwu opened her 2018 account in the 53rd minute, when her effort from five yards out beat the goalkeeper.
- Longsden scored her third of the game in the 59th minute when her powerful volley, following a deflection from Okechukwu, found the back of the net.
- DSU outshout the visitors 18-9, including a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal.
- Amanda Hilliard and Ella Dennis had three saves apiece.

- Longsden scored three goals on five shots.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The three goals were Longsden were the first of her DSU career, helping her become the first DSU player to record a hat trick since Katerine Thompson in 2016.
- DSU has scored eight goals in six games this season. In 2017, the team did not record its eighth goal of the season until the ninth game.
- The Lady Statesmen have three shutouts through six games. The last time that DSU recorded three, or more, shutouts in a season was in 2011.
