th minute goal by Emma Claire Furman proved to be the difference, as Mississippi College edged the Lady Statesmen of Delta State University, 1-0, in soggy conditions on Friday, Sept. 21 at Delta Field. The match endured a 58 minute weather delay at the 30:13 mark of the first half.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emma Claire Furman put the Lady Choctaws up 1-0 in the 15th minute, beating the keeper in the upper right corner off an assist from Samantha Carson. It was her first goal of the season.
- MC finished the first half with four shots, three on goal. DSU fired off two shots, with one on goal.
- The Lady Statesmen pushed the tempo in the second period, placing four shots, two on goal, at MC keeper Gabby Kayser.
- MC recorded four second half shots, two on goal, but all were repelled by freshman keeper Amanda Hilliard, who finished the match with four saves.
- Anna Whitehead led the Lady Statesmen with two shots, including one on goal.
- Furman finished the match with three shots for MC, including what proved to be the winning goal.
