Lady Statesmen Drop Match to Mississippi College After Late Goal

CLINTON, Miss.- The Delta State University women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker on the road Sunday afternoon to Mississippi College 1-0. The Lady Choctaws scored the only goal of the game in the 86th minute of the contest. The Lady Statesmen have still never defeated the Lady Choctaws.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Mississippi College dominated the early portion of the game out shooting DSU and keeping the pressure early on.
  • The middle section of the first half brought forth several opportunities for DSU but could not find the back of the net. Anoucke Baas had an open shot but it was blocked.
  • MC had four corners in the first half and forced several saves from Amanda Hilliard.
  • Early in the second half the Lady Statesmen had a great opportunity but the shot from Tasha Toms was blocked.
  • In the 86th MC got the game winner on a break away from Kaylee Foster
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • MC outshot DSU 12-2 including 8-0 on target.
  • Both teams had 10 fouls and one yellow card each.
  • Amanda Hilliard had seven saves in the game.
