CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Delta State University baseball will begin the 2020 season ranked 11th in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason National Poll released on Monday.
The Statesmen went 42-14 and won the Gulf South Conference Tournament and finished runner-up to eventual National Champion Tampa University in the NCAA Division II South Region in 2019.
Tampa tops the poll followed by U.C. San Diego, Colorado Mesa, Central Missouri State and Catawba in the top five.Â
Ranked opponents on the Statesmen include No. 22 West Florida and No. 24 Arkansas-Monticello while Southern Arkansas, Mississippi College, and Valdosta State received votes in the poll.
Delta State opens th 2020 season with a three-game series against East Central (Okla.) on Saturday, Feb. 1 - Sunday, Feb. 2 at Harvey Stadium- Ferriss Field.
