Statesmen Fall on the Road to Lane College

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Delta State University men's basketball team fell to Lane College on Wednesday evening by a score of 90-79. The Statesmen and the Dragons split the season series with both teams winning on their home floor. DSU led 43-32 at the halftime break but Lane went on a 14-1 run to take the lead 50-48 with 14 minutes to go in the game to take the lead which the Statesmen could not recover. The Statesmen turned the ball over 25 times in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Delta State scored first with two quick buckets from Cameron Burkett and Keyshaun Street to give a 5-0 lead.
  • Lane started the game 1-11 before tying the game.
  • Austin Laatsch scored 12 of the first 23 points for the Statesmen going 3-3 from beyond the arc.
  • The Green and White shot 6-14 from beyond the arc in the first half while Lane was 4-13.
  • DSU didn't have a single offensive rebound in the first half.
  • Lane started the half with a 14-5 run to cut the lead to 48-46 with 15 minutes to go in the game.
  • The Dragons continued to shoot well and took the lead 54-50 with 12 minutes left.
  • Both teams went back and forth but DSU could not retake the lead.
  • Michael Motley cut the deficit down to 76-82 with two minutes left but that was it.

  • Lane went on a 14-1 run to take the lead 50-48 with 14 minutes to go in the game.

  • Delta State had 25 turnovers which led to 27 points for Lane.
