Valdosta, Ga. – The Delta State University men's basketball team fell to Valdosta State University Blazers 90-74 on Saturday afternoon. The Blazers hit 15 three point shots en route to the victory over the Statesmen.
Rasheide Bell led the Green and White with 21 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Valdosta State came out of the gate on fire with Winston Morgan hitting three straight three to give an early 18-9 lead.
- The Blazers pushed the tempo all the way out to a 12 point lead with 15 minutes to go in the first half.
- Slowly DSU started to chip away at the lead. Brett Warner and Rashiede Bell hit five three pointers to close the gap.
- A Warner jumper gave Delta State its first lead with 1:35 left in the half but then VSU answered to take a 49-46 lead into the break.
- DSU scored the first four points of the half to take a 50-49 lead.
- Then it was a 17-0 run for VSU in the second half after DSU took the lead
- The Blazers pushed the lead out to as many as 19 with 10 minutes to go in the game.
- Matthew Wilson hit three straight three point shots to cut the lead back down to 11 with nine minutes to go.
- Every time Delta State cut the lead down VSU had an answer. Beau Justice for the Blazers had a game high 27 points on 9-13 shooting.
TURNING POINT
- A 4:45 scoring drought for the Statesmen led way to a 17-0 run for the Blazers and they never looked back.
STAT OF THE GAME
- Delta State was 9-19 from beyond the arc while VSU was 15-27.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Bell had his fifth game with 20 plus points.
- Warner and Wilson were a combined 6-13 shooting from the three point line.
- Both teams had 32 rebounds in the game.
- The Statesmen only turned the ball over nine times with 14 assists.

- Delta State returns home to take on MC on Saturday, February 23 at 4:00 at Walter Sillers Coliseum. It will be senior day for the Statesmen.
