Bo Petro gets his first Gulf South win as a head coach.
Delta State opened the match by winning the top three flights in doubles.
Trey Seymour and
Emile Le Terrier defeated Marvin Gebhardt and Alonso Reid, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles. While
Hugo Stroppiana and
Mason Vice claimed No. 2 doubles with a 6-2 win over Paul Chabaud and Javier Saez.
Timo Schmitz and
Leo De Sousa claimed No. 3 doubles with a 6-3 win over Atilio Flores and Andres Calzacorta.
Emile Le Terrier opened singles play with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 1 over Chabaud. Vice followed suit at No. 3 with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Reid.
Seymour closed the door on the match for the Statesmen at No. 4, defeating Atilio Flores 6-1, 6-2.
The Statesmen return to action on Saturday, Mar. 2, as Delta State travels to Hattiesburg, Miss. As they take on William Carey. Match time is set for 2:30 p.m.
