CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State Softball was back at University Field for a non-conference double header against Harding University, on March 12, 2019. The Lady Statesmen took game one 3-0 thanks to a complete game shutout by 
Nicole Fullilove. DSU won game two in dramatic fashion 9-8 thanks to a walk off single by 
Jordan Jones

How It Happened: Game 1
	- DSU took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The first run was plated by Jordan Jones' RBI single to right field. Kelly Byrd scored the second run after an error at second base.
- Byrd's home run in the bottom of the third extended the Lady Statesmen's lead 3-0.
On the Mound Game 1:
	- Nicole Fullilove (8-6) got the win for the Lady Statesmen. Fullilove threw a complete game shutout only giving up four hits and striking out five.
- Emma Dwyer (2-4) received the loss for Harding. Dwyer gave up 3 runs off four hits through six innings.
Beyond the Box Score: GM1
	- Byrd's Home run in the bottom of the third was her sixth home run this season.
- Byrd (2-2) was the only Lady Statesmen to have multiple hit game.
- This was Fullilove's third consecutive shutout game
How It Happened: Game 2
	- Thanks to a two run home run by Kailyn Lofton in the bottom of the second the Lady Statesmen took an early 2-0 lead.
- Harding tied the ball game 2-2 in the top of the third. Their first run was plated by Peyton Mill's RBI single to the pitcher. Amanda Fields drove in the second run after forcing a fielder's choice.
- DSU took the lead 5-2 in the bottom of the third after Jordan Jones' three run home run to center field.
- Harding plated two runs in the top of the fourth cutting DSU's lead 5-4. Kyndal Pirtle drove in the first run for Harding with an RBI single to third. The second Bison run was scored by Lindsey Duncan after a wild pitch.
- Back to back home runs by Peyton Mills and Amanda Fields in the top of the fifth gave Harding a 6-4 lead.
- Harding extended their lead 7-5 in the top of the sixth after a run was walked in.
- DSU cut the Harding lead 7-6 in the bottom of the sixth thanks to Kelly Byrd's RBI single to right center.
- Harding Plated one more run in the top of the seventh after an error at short stop plated Kiley Persons.
- DSU took the game in the bottom of the seventh after plating three runs. Byrd ties the game up 8-8 with a two run single to center field. Jones walked it off the next at bat with a RBI single to center field.
On the Mound Game 2:
	- Mari Alex Sandridge (5-3) started for Delta State. Sandridge gave up six runs off nine hits through four innings.
- Brittany Taylor came in to relieve Sandridge in the top of the fifth. Baker pitched two and 2/3 innings giving up two runs off three hits.
- Emily Baker relieved Taylor in the top of the seventh. Baker received the win for Delta State. Baker entered the top of the seventh with two outs on the board, she struck out the one batter she faced.
- Aidan Nichols (1-0) was the starting pitcher for Harding. Nichols gave up five runs off three hits through two innings.
- Emily Garret came in to relieve Nichols. Garret only allowed one hit through two innings.
- Kymberlyn Baldwin came into relieve Garret. Baldwin gave up one run off one hit through two innings.
- Piper James (3-3)  relieved Baldwin in the bottom of the seventh. Baldwin got the loss after giving up three runs off three hits in the bottom of the seventh.

	- Lofton's home run in the bottom of the second was her first of the season.
- Jones' home run in the bottom of the third was her fourth home run of the season.
- Jones (2-4) and Kelly Byrd (3-4) both had multiple hit games for the Lady Statesmen.
Up Next:
	- Delta State Softball will be back on the road March 16th-17th for a Gulf South Conference series in Memphis Tennessee to take on Christian Brothers University. The Lady Statesmen will begin the series with a double header on March 16th with game one beginning at 1 pm.
