MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Delta State Softball was back on the road this weekend for a series against Christian Brothers University. The Lady Statesmen kicked of the series with a double header at 1 pm. DSU defeated the CBU in game one 5-1 and won game two 13-5 to keep their win streak alive.

How It Happened: Game 1
- The Lady Statesmen took an early lead after plating two runs in the top of the first. Kelly Byrd was responsible for the first run after her double down the left field line drove in Mallory Myers. The next at bat Jordan Jones plated Byrd with a double to left center.
- DSU extended their lead 4-0 in the third thanks to a two run home run by Taylor Picou.
- CBU finally made it on the board in the bottom of the fifth after Sierra Anderson's RBI single to left field.
- Delta State added one more run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly by Jones.
In the Circle: Game 1
- Nicole Fullilove (9-6) got the win for DSU. Fullilove gave up one run off three hits while striking out twelve.
- Rachel Whitley (1-2) got the start for CBU. Whitley gave up four runs off seven hits through three innings.
- Macy Cumming relieved Whitley in the top of the fourth. Cumming only gave up one run off four hits through four innings.
Beyond the Box Score: Game 1
- Picou's home run in the top of the third was her third home run this season.
- Byrd and Jones extended their hitting streaks. Byrd is now on a six game hitting streak while Jones is now on an eight game hitting streak.
- Myers (2-4), Kelly Byrd (2-4) and Abi Gibson (3-4) all had multi-hit games.
- Fullilove set a new team high for strikeouts in a game after sitting down twelve.
- After driving in two runs Jones had her sixth multi-RBI game of the season.
How It Happened: Game 2
- The Lady Statesmen were first on the board with a 2-0 lead after Ta'mya Jonson drove in Abi Gibson and Mallory Myers with a double to right field in the top of the first.
- CBU quickly came back tying it 2-2 after a two run home run by Kendall Westbrooks.
- Kelly Byrd took back the lead for DSU with a grand slam through center field put the Lady statesmen up 6-2.
- DSU added to their lead in the top of the third thanks to Kailyn Lofton's RBI double to center field.
- Delta State plated three more in the top of the fourth. The first run was driven in by Johnson's RBI single to center field. Kailyn Lofton drove in the next run with her own RBI single to center field. Picou drove in the third run with a RBI single to left field.
- CBU cut the DSU lead 10-5 after plating three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Katlyen Cherry plated the first run with a sacrifice fly. Ashlyn Hinton drove in the second run with an RBI single. The final CBU run was plated by a wild pitch.
- A two run double for Jones and an RBI ground out by Loftton extended the Lady Statesmen lead 13-5.
In the Circle: Game 2
- Mari Alex Sandridge (5-3) got the win for DSU. Sandridge gave up four runs off three hits while striking out four through three and 2/3 innings.
- Emily Baker relieved Sandridge in the bottom of the fourth. Baker only gave up one hit in her one and 1/3 innings pitched.
- Sierra Anderson (2-6) started for CBU, Anderson gave up seven runs off ten hits in three and 1/3 innings.
- Mary Cummins relieved Anderson in the top of the fourth. Cummins gave up two runs off two hits in 2/3 innings.
- Rachel Whitley relieved Cummins in the top of the fifth. She gave up one runs off two hits.
Beyond the Box Score: GM2
- Johnson, Byrd, and Lofton all had multiple RBI games for the Lady Statesmen.
- Byrd's grand slam in the top of the second was her seventh of the season. Byrd also extended her hit streak to seven games.
- Myers (2-3), Gibson (2-3), Byrd (2-3), Picou (3-3) all had multiple hit games for the Lady Statesmen.
