HUNTSVILLE, AL. - The Delta State University women's tennis team dropped three straight with two being on the road and one being at home, March 9-11, falling to Alabama Huntsville 6-1, Alabama A&M 4-2, and Dallas Baptist 4-3. The Lady Statesmen moved to 2-7 and 1-1 in conference on the season.
In the loss to UAH,
Fabiola Cardenas and
Nathalia Sato claimed DSU's lone win at No. 1 doubles with a 6-1 victory over Stefanie Mehlich and Karolin Kirchtag.
Sato also grabbed DSU's lone win in No. 2 singles with a 6-0,6-1 victory over Sarah Stearman.
In the loss to Alabama A&M,
Fabiola Cardenas claimed DSU's No. 1 singles with a 6-3,6-3 victory over Beatriz Gutierrez.
Sophie St. Amant claimed DSU's No. 6 singles with a 6-2,6-1 victory over Nthabiseng Mashego.
In the loss to Dallas Baptist,
Fabiola Cardenas claimed DSU's No. 1 singles with a 6-1,6-4 victory over Taylor Leslie.
Nathalia Stelzer claimed DSU's No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Ira Voglemann.
Sophie St. Amont claimed DSU's No.6 singles with a 6-4,6-4 victory over Devon Austin-Canning.
Delta State returns to action on Wednesday, March 13, as the Lady Statesmen travel to Jackson State University. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
