CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Lady Statesmen were swept in a weekend series against the University of West Florida on Sunday afternoon. It is the second series sweep the Lady Statesmen have suffered at home this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- On the first pitch of the game, Rachel Wright hit a solo home run off of Nicole Fullilove to start the game.
- In the bottom of the first, Jordan Jones drove in Mallory Myers to tie the game at 1-1.
- In the second and third innings, neither team was able to get a hit.
- After two hits by UWF in the fourth, the Argos got a run off an error by the Lady Statesmen to make it 2-1.
- In the fifth, the Argos got another run off a sacrifice fly from Kathleen Smiley.
- In the seventh, UWF got their final run on a single from Ally Merrill.
- In the bottom of the seventh, DSU got their last run of the game on a solo home run from Jordan Jones.
ON THE MOUND:
- Tori Perkins earned the win for UWF improving to 9-1 on the season. In three innings, she gave up one run on three hits.
- Grace Gilbert came in relief and gave up three hits on one run in four innings.
- Nicole Fullilove received the loss to drop to 11-8 on the season. She gave up three runs on seven hits with two strikeouts in the game.
- Sandridge came in relief and gave up one run on three hits.
NOTEABLES:
- Jones hit her fifth home run of the season.
- Fullilove with 96 strikeouts, continues to lead the GSC. She also leads the conference in innings pitched.
