CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Lady Statesmen were swept in a weekend series against the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Saturday afternoon. It is the third series in which the Lady Statesmen have suffered a double header loss at home this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME 1
- Nicole Fullilove started out strong as she struck out three of the first four batters she faced.
- Mallory Myers was walked as the first batter of the game for DSU and that was the only base runner of the game.
- In the third, UAH got on the board on a solo home run from Shannon Long
- In the fourth, Ashley Cornell hit a two run home run to make the it 3-0.
- In the fifth Kiara Akles hit a three run home run to make it 8-0.
- The Lady Statesmen were no hit in game one.
GAME 2
- Delta State got on the score board first as Olivia Dick drove in Kailyn Lofton by a walk.
- UAH got their first run in the fourth inning as they had two singles and a walk. With Akles driving in Shelby Booker.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Ta'mya Johnson got to third base for the Lady Statesmen but was stranded there.
- In the top of the sixth, Jada Hayes took advantage of the wind and hit a solo home run to take the lead for the Chargers
- In the bottom of the sixth, Olivia Dick also made to third but was stranded there as well.
ON THE MOUND:
- Fullilove in game one went four and two thirds of an inning giving up eight runs on seven hits and had five strikeouts. With Brittany Taylor recording the final out.
- Kiara Akles threw her second career no-hitter.
- Mari Alex Sandridge went all seven innings gave up two runs on four hits.
- Sydnee Ulhman picked up the win in relief going four innings and giving up two hits.
NOTEABLES:
- The Lady Statesmen have lost seven straight games.
- First time the Lady Statesmen have been no hit since February 25, 2018 at Valdosta State. They lost that game 3-0.
