CLEVELAND, Miss.-The Delta State University men's soccer team and head coach
Andy Robertson have announced the addition of two new Statesmen for the upcoming 2019 season.
Joe Elliot and Josue Fuentes will play for the green and white next season.
Elliott, who is originally from Leicester, England, is a transfer from Pearl River Community College. He played for six years at Leicester City Academy while representing Scotland in the under 19 level. At Pearl River CC, he was named MACJC All-Region 11 in 2017 and MACJC All-State 11 in 2018.
Elliot said, "I am looking forward to joining Delta State and making the most of the awesome facilities, joining up with the team and making a huge contribution to the program going forward."
Josue Fuentes is from New Orleans, Louisiana. He will be coming from Holy Cross High School. He has helped lead Holy Cross to two division two state championships in Louisiana. He was a four year starter and All-District player. In 2016, he was named to the all-State freshman team. He scored winning goal to send Holy Cross to their first ever state championship appearance.
Fuentes was also a part of the Louisiana Fire Club Team. In 2016 the Fire were a C1 state finalist. While in 2017-18 the won the C1 state championship and went all the way to a third place finish at Region III championships.
"I am very pleased with how this recruiting class is coming together for 2019," said head coach Andy Robertson. "We have addressed some needs for the team as we transition from the previous season and move forward into a new year."
"We are counting on these new individuals to help elevate the program while serving as great representatives of the men's soccer program and Delta State University," said Robertson.
