CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State University Softball completed their series against the University of West Alabama on Monday April 15, 2019. Delta State fell to West Alabama 10-6, despite a late game comeback by the Lady Statesmen.

How It Happened:
- UWA took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Hayes Fulford and Chrissy Tubbs scored the first two runs after an error at second base. Kendall Johnson scored the third run after a wild pitch. Kierra Hague's plated the last three runs with a home run to left field.
- Hague's RBI single to right field extended UWA's lead 7-0 in the top of the fourth.
- Mari Alex Sandridge's sacrifice fly drove in in Jordan Jones for DSU's first run in the bottom of the fifth.
- Abi Gibson Scored the second run for the Lady Statesmen after an error by the short stop in the bottom of the sixth.
- UWA extended their lead 10-2 in the top of the seventh after plating three. Grace Self plated the first run with an RBI single. Chrissy Tubbs scored the second after a pass ball. Kylie MArting plated the final run with a scarafice fly to right field.
- The Lady Statesmen made a late game rally after sccoring 4 in the bottom of the seventh. Mallory Myers drove in the first run with an RBI single to right field. Gibson plated the next two with a two run double to center field. Jones drove in the fourth run with a one run double down the right field line.
In the Circle:
- Nicole Fullilove (12-10) got the start for Delta State. Fullilove gave up six unearned runs off five hits through one and 2/3 innings.
- Emily Baker relived Fullilove in the bottom of the second. Baker gave up only two earned runs off six hits through five and 1/3 inning
- Nora Keehn (12-7) started for UWA. Keehn gave up tworuns off five hits through five innings.
- Carleigh Mills relived Keehn in the bottom of the sixth. Mills gave up four runs off four hits through one inning.
- Kamree Lay relieved Mills in the bottom of the seventh. Lay gave up one hit in one inning of work.
- Gibson was the only Lady Statesmen to have a multi-RBI game.
Beyond the Box Score:
- Jones (3-4), Gibson (2-4), and Taylor Picou (2-3) had multiple hit games for DSU.
