PENSACOLA, FLA. - The Delta State University men's tennis team dropped two in conference play this weekend, April 12-13, dropping the first match to #4 West Florida 0-7, and then dropping a match against #19 Valdosta 3-4. The Statesmen move to 9-5 and 3-4 in conference on the season.
In the loss against #4 West Florida,
Hugo Stroppiana kept it close with Juan Cabrera in No. 2 singles with a 5-7,3-6 lose.
Mason Vice tried to take No.3 singles from UWF with a 6-1,2-6,1-6 set against Lucas Sanchez.
Trey Seymour tried to rally back and defeat Robin Rafaitin in No.4 singles with a 7-5,4-6,0-1 match set.
In the loss against #19 Valdosta,
Hugo Stroppiana knocked off his #10 ranked opponent in No. 1 Singles with a 6-3,0-6,6-3 victory over Jordi Mas.
Emile Le Terrier followed suit with claiming No. 2 singles with a 6-2,7-6,7-2 win over Florian Simbozel.
Seymour and
Terrier claimed DSU's first double with a 6-4 win over Nguyen and Holm.
Vice and
Stroppiana followed suit with a 6-3 victory over Pineda and Cizek in No.3 doubles.
Delta State returns to action on Thursday, April 18, as the Statesmen travel to Livingston, AL to take on Auburn University Montgomery. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
