CLEVELAND, Miss. - For the 51st consecutive year, Delta State University Athletics will take time to honor the achievements of its student-athletes, coaches and staff on Monday, April 22 at the Green & White Awards. The ESPYs-style awards show is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. inside the Bologna Performing Arts Center. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
"Each year we take the time to honor what your student-athletes, coaches and staff have accomplished on the field of play and in the classroom," DSU director of athletics and head baseball coach
Mike Kinnison said. "We would like to encourage our campus and community to come out and participate Monday, as we recognize a banner year for our student-athletes!"
This year's event promises to be one of the biggest Green & White Awards yet.
Matt Jones, Voice of the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen, will emcee the show, featuring video highlights of all 13 Delta State intercollegiate athletic programs and a few light-hearted special features.
"We've put a lot of time and effort into this year's program, and the new features will be a hit for everyone," Jones said. "It's been a special year for the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen, and we can't wait to unveil some of the features on Monday. Several members of our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee are helping us this time around and it will be a great time for everyone."
While each team will present various awards, DSU Athletics will present several special recognitions, including the Lawrence Stewart Athletic Service Award, Athletic Alumni Appreciation Award, Charles S. Kerg Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Year, and the CHAMPS Cup overall champion. Graduating seniors will also be honored during the show and presented with a collage designed by Statesman baseball alum and artist Bryan Rodgers.
