LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The Lady Statesmen tennis team won 7-0  over Shorter University on Tuesday, April. 16 in Livingston, AL. The Lady Statesmen improve to 6-15 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

Delta State opened the match by winning two out of three flights in doubles. Fabiola Cardenas and Nathalia Sato defeated Melinda Chrun and Anastasia Jovicic 6-1, at No. 1 doubles. While Sophie St. Amant and Katheryne Valencia claimed No. 3 doubles with a 6-0 win over Taylor Harper and Victoria Overby.

Cardenas opened singles play with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 1 over Chrun. Sato followed suit at No. 2 with a 6-2, 3-0 win over Jovicic.  Ione Deroode defeated Marchand 6-2, 6-4 in No. 3 singles. Valencia followed and gained a 6-1,6-0 victory over Mulkey in No.4 singles. Amant earned a victory over Overby at No.5 singles by a forfeit. Nathalia Stelzer closed out singles at No. 6 singles with an 8-0 victory over Harper. 

The Lady Statesmen return to action on Saturday, April 27, as Delta State travels to Montevallo, AL. As they take on the University of Montevallo. Match time is set for 10:00 a.m.
