CLINTON, Miss. – Delta State University Softball finished their series against Mississippi College on Sunday April 28, 2019. The Lady Statesmen fell 4-2 in the closely contested game against the Choctaws.

How It Happened:
- MC took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second after a SAC bunt by Gracie Trahan and a SAC fly by Kayla Murphy.
- Trahan's RBI double in the bottom of the fourth extended the Choctaw's lead 3-0.
- Delta State cut MC's lead 3-2 in the top of the fifth. Kelly Byrd plated the first run with an RBI single up the middle. Ta'mya Johnson drove in the second run with an RBI double to left field.
- Murphy's second SAC fly of the game in the bottom of the sixth extended MC's lead 4-2.
In the Circle:
- Nicole Fullilove (12-14) got the start for Delta State. Fullilove gave up three runs off four hits through three and 1/3 innings.
- Mari Alex Sandridge relieved Fullilove in the bottom of the fourth. Sandridge gave up one run off two hits through two and 2/3 innings.
- Cori Cooper (13-7) received the win for Mississippi College. Cooper gave up two runs off six hits through seven innings.
Beyond the Box Score:
- Mallory Myers (3-4) was the only Lady Statesmen with a mulit-hit game.
