CLEVELAND, Miss. - Fans of all ages turned out Saturday, Aug. 24 for Delta State University Athletic's inaugural Meet The Statesmen event at Parker Field-McCool Stadium. The event featured Statesmen and Lady Statesmen from football, men's soccer, women's soccer, cross country and cheer.

"We appreciate the many fans, alumni and friends that came out to Meet The Statesmen today to help us kickoff the fall sports for our programs," Mike Kinnison, Director of Athletics, said. "I know our student-athletes enjoyed the event and I hope you will plan to come back to our next event."

Fans enjoyed refreshments while kids of all ages played games on the field and got autographs with their favorite players.

"I know our Lady Statesmen Soccer team had a blast with the kids today and I hope they will come back and support our team on Sept. 6 when we open the season at Delta Field," head coach Luke Sheekey said.

The fall sports seasons officially begin next week, as Delta State football hosts Tusculum University on Thursday, Sept. 5. Kickoff is set for 6 PM at Parker Field-McCool Stadium.
