Statesmen Win Third Straight Match on the Road

JACKSON, Miss.- The Delta State University Men's soccer team defeated Millsaps College on Tuesday evening 4-0 for their third straight win. It is the first time since 2014 that the Statesmen have won three straight games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Statesmen dominated the first 20 minutes attempting three shots while Millsaps did not attempt one.
  • In the 26 minute, a DSU player was fouled and Odin Johannsson converted the penalty kick.
  • Ten minutes later in the 37th minute, Felipe Rosado slipped one to Mikey Rhodes who slotted it in to extend the lead to 2-0.
  • In the 75th minute, Tom Bar-Yosef converts on a free kick from just outside the 18 yard box to make the score 3-0.
  • Tylor Davis got his first goal of his DSU career in the 86th minute when Zachary Breaux lobbed one over the top and Davis fired it past the keeper.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Green and White outshot the Majors 13-2 in the game, including 6-0 on target.
  • Millsaps did not have a shot until the second half
  • Mattis Kloepper earned his second shutout of the year.
  • Millsaps earned two yellow cards, and Komakur Thorsson earned one for the Green and White as well.
  • This was the fourth meeting all time between Millsaps and DSU. Both teams have now won two games. Millsaps won the first two in 2005 and 2006. The Statesmen's first win came in 2012.
 
NOTABLES
  • Johansson scored his second goal of the season
  • This was the first penalty kick scored by DSU this season. The last one was against Southern Nazarene last year when Bruno Osorio scored.
  • The Statesmen have won three straight games for only the sixth time in their history.
  • The last time DSU had accomplished this feat was in 2014. It was Coach Andy Robertson's first season and the Statesmen defeated Mississippi College, LSU-Alexandria, and Faulkner in their win streak.
