Tasha Toms converted a penalty kick in the 89
th minute to score the game winning goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Statesmen came out on fire with plenty of pressure and shots from the start.
- Erin Longsden got on the board first with a goal in the 35th minute for the Green and White.
- Delta State kept the pressure on going through the rest of the half but could not score.
- UAH did not take their first shot until the 75th minute.
- In the 88th minute the Chargers scored the equalizer with a goal from Melanie Brandon.
- One minute later, DSU was fouled in the penalty box and Tasha Toms scored on the penalty kick.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Green and White outshot UAH 18-2 with a margin of 10-1 of shots on goal.
- Amanda Hilliard did not register a save in the win.
- Longsden and Hannah Janes both attempted three shots to lead the Lady Statesmen.
- DSU took six corners while UAH had one.
- The Chargers also committed six more fouls than DSU did.

- This is the second straight year DSU has defeated UAH in dramatic fashion. Last season Anoucke Baas scored in OT to give DSU a win in Huntsville.
- Second straight year the Lady Statesmen have opened GSC play with a win.
- This was the first career penalty kick attempt for Tasha Toms in a Green and White jersey.
