CLEVELAND, Miss.– The Delta State University Men's Soccer team fell in the opening game of the season to the University of Texas at Tyler on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 3-0. Despite have several chances early, the Statesmen could not find the back of the net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delta State had two early chances to score with shots from Odin Johansson and Zachary Breaux but went shot went high and the other was saved.
- In the 12th minute, the UT Tyler Patriots got on the board on a breakaway goal from Tyler Agyemann to take the lead.
- Delta State responded with several different shots but could not find the back of the net.
- UT Tyler extended the lead in the 31st minute with a strike from Tyler Rossell.
- The Patriots got their third and final goal when Tyler Aguilar scored on a very tough angle in the 43rd minute.
- In the second half, neither team was able to score but DSU was able to outshoot the Patriots.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- UT Tyler outshot the Statesmen 16-8.
- Mattis Kloepper got his first start in goal for the Green and White and record five saves.
- Both teams committed ten fouls each. There were a combined three yellow cards.

- The Statesmen are 1-15 all time in season openers.
