- The Lady Statesmen dropped a pair of contests in Livingston, Ala. against the University of West Alabama to open the season.
- Zyaire Ewing picked up where she left off last season. In a 74-54 loss, Ewing dropped 20 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one block. Ewing then poured in a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds to collect the 11th double-double of her career.
