HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The Delta State University baseball team could not overcome Alabama Huntsville's six-run fifth inning in a 10-3 loss at Charger Park on Sunday. The Chargers led 3-1 before the six-run fifth stretched the lead to 10-1.
Delta State scored two runs in the top of the ninth on a
Hayden White two-run single closed the scoring on the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Chargers scored three runs in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Wes Anderson doubled to left field to score Malave Bettinger and Zach Duvall hit a two-run home run.
- Darek Sargent hit his second home run of the weekend to cut the deficit to 3-1 in the top of the fifth.
- UAH took a 10-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth. John Trousdale had a two-RBI double and Bettinger belted a grand slam.
- Hayden White singled home Jared Cramer and Chad Ragland in the top of the ninth to make the score 10-3.
ON THE MOUND
- Starter Jackson Rutledge (1-2) gave up six runs on three hits with seven strikeouts in 4.0 inning of work as the pitcher of record for the Statesmen.
- Patrick Hodges tossed 2.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts in relief of Rutledge.
- Cody Morrow (1-0) worked 2.1 innings in relief of starter Harper Case to earn the win.
NOTABLES:
- White finished the day 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Statesmen.
- Sargent's solo home run in the third was his second of the series.
- Landon Roberts, Chad Ragland and Jared Cramer each collected hits for the Statesmen.
- The series loss snapped the Statesmen's string of three straight opening GSC series wins.
- Bettinger went 2-for-3 with a grand slam to lead the Chargers.
