CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The University of Alabama in Huntsville outscored the Delta State University men's basketball team 7-2 over the final 3:12 of a hard fought game as the Chargers pulled out a 59-53 win against the Statesmen on Friday night at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jaylen Lemons dialed up a deep three-pointer to give the Statesmen a quick 3-0 lead 14 seconds into the game.
- Another Lemons three-pointer, as part of a quick start for the freshman, gave the Green-and-White a 20-13 lead with 11:28 to go in the first half
- UAH's Chaney Johnson cut the DSU lead to 20-18 with under 10 minutes to play in the opening half.
- Keyshaun Street hit a three-point shot to push the lead to 28-20 with 4:40 remaining in the first half.
- The Statesmen held a 32-27 lead after Michael Motley made two free throws, but UAH used a 5-0 spurt to knot the game at 32-32 on a Riley Webster three-pointer with 2:08 to go in the first half.
- Motley's layup with 12 seconds left sent the Statesmen to intermission with a 34-32 lead.
- Motley continued to lift DSU scoring, opening the second half with a jumper in the lane to make the score 36-32.
- A 9-0 run surged the Chargers to a 41-36 lead after a Max Shulemann bucket at the 15:13 mark of the second half.
- Lee Cotton nailed a three-pointer to give the Statesmen a 46-43 lead with just under 12 minutes to play in the contest.
- The Charges went on a 6-0 run to take a 52-49 lead with 4:27 left in the second half.
- Maalik Cartwright cut the UAH lead to 52-21 with 3:38 to go, but UAH outscored DSU 7-2 over the final 3:12 of the game to pull out the win.
TURNING POINT
- Riley Webster's three-pointer gave the Chargers a 52-51 lead late as UAH outscored the Statesmen 7-2 over the final 3:12.
STAT OF THE GAME
- The Statesmen went 7-for-19 from beyond the arc in the first half, but were just 3-for-16 (18 percent) in the second half.
- The Chargers got a jolt off the bench, outscoring the Statesmen bench 26-4. They also outscorerd DSU 26-16 in the paint.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- Airen Brooks posted his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead three Statesmen in double figures.
- Motley chipped in 13 points with six boards and five steals.
- Lemons finished with 12 points and three assists while Cartwright cleaned the glass for 12 boards.
- Shulman had 11 points and nine rebounds and Nathan Moore scored 11 points to lead the Chargers.
