CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Delta State University men's soccer head coach
Andy Robertson has announced the signing of a trio of men's soccer student-athletes.
Robertson announced the signing of Mike Ruhl, Tyler Goad and Luke Yarbrough, all from the state of Mississippi, to his incoming recruiting class.
"I am very excited to add these players to our program, Robertson said. "I think it's very important to have a strong group of players from Mississippi that will take pride in representing our university and the state."
Mike Ruhl joins the #DSUFamily from Tupelo FC. The Tupelo, Miss., native helped lead Tupelo High School to a 15-4-3 record in the 2019-2020 season which included a 5-1 mark in district play.
"Mike is a very composed midfielder," Robertson said. "He has very good technical ability, and will be a great addition to our team."
Tyler Goad, a teammate of Ruhl's also headlines Robertson's class. The defender also starred for Tupelo High School and Tupelo FC and was part of Tupleo's 15-win season last year.Â
"Tyler is another hard-working player, who will get up and down the line for most of the game," Robertson said. "He is really going to contribute to both our attacking and defensive strategies."
Luke Yarbrough rounds out the trio of additions. Yarbrough, a Fulton, Miss., native and Itawamba Agricultural High School product, plays with Ruhl and Goad for Tupelo FC.
"Luke is a hard-working forward with a lot of pace," Robertson added. "He is going to give defenders in our league a tough time."
"When you talk about athletes from Mississippi, you associate words such as determined, hard-working and humble, and that's the type of players that will be successful at Delta State and in our conference," said Robertson. "Each player will bring a different quality to our roster."
