CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University Statesmen shot 60 percent from the field (33-for-55) and 50 percent from three-point territory (6-for-12), but fell to Union (Tenn.) University 92-79 on Friday evening at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Union (Tenn.) hit their first five shots from the field, all three-pointers, as they built a 15-7 lead in the game's first four minutes.
- The Statesmen cut it to five, 19-14, with 13:34 to go in the first half.
- A pair of three-pointers by Michael Motley and a pair of buckets from Maalik Cartwright helped the Statesmen on a 16-11 run to tie the game at 30-30 at the 6:21 mark of the first half.
- The Bullodgs used another run, this time a 16-4 spurt, as they built a 47-39 lead at the break.
- Cartwright scored three straight buckets for the Statesmen as part of a 6-5 trade off to pull the Green and White within seven points, 52-45.
- Union (Tenn.) continued to push the lead to double-digits, and the Statesmen cut it to eight with 15:18 to play, but the Bulldogs raced back in front by as much as 19 points late in the contest.
TURNING POINT
- The Statesmen cut the lead down to seven points with 18:04 to go in the second half, but a 24-12 spurt by Union (Tenn.) made it 74-55 and put the game out of reach of DSU.
STAT OF THE GAME
- The Bulldogs had 20 points off of turnovers and 20 second chance points to just nine points off turnovers and seven second chance points for the Green and White.
