JACKSON, Tenn. – The Delta State University women's soccer team earned its fifth victory in as many tries on the road this season in Gulf South Conference play as the Lady Statesmen downed Union (Tenn). 1-0 on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Less than a minute into the contest, a Union (Tenn.) defender tried to clear a cross with a header, but the ball caromed into the back of the net to give the Lady Statesmen the early lead. 
• Poppy Derhun, Jennifer Lopez, and Mackenzie Thompson each had shots on target in the first half.
• Both teams continued to play in the second half with DSU applying plenty of pressure, but four more on-target shots could not find the back of the net for the Green and White. 
• Goalkeeper Bailey Daugherty, getting her second start of the year, turned away a pair of on-target shots in the first half, and also denied Union's next best chance at the 52:32 mark of the match.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Delta State outshot Union 17-6.
• The Green and White had four corners to three corners for the Lady Bulldogs.
• Daugherty earned her first win in goal and registered three saves.
• DSU secured its seventh GSC win, the most in school history.
• The Lady Statesmen build on an already school record for road GSC wins in a season. DSU is 5-0 in GSC play on the road this year.
