STATS OF THE NIGHT:
  • The two teams played the first 11 minutes and change to an 18-18 tie before a 19-5 run from Eckerd put the Tritons up 37-23 at the half.
  • Two quick layups and a three-point basket from Airen Brooks to open the second half, combined with a Lee Cotton three-pointer, helped the Statesmen cut the deficit under 10, 41-33, with 16:20 to play. 
  • From there, a 15-8 sprint for the Statesmen pulled DSU within a point, 49-48, as the teams battled with 10:25 to go.
  • The teams continued to match each other shot for shot down the stretch, and with DSU down three, a Kelen Dietrich three-point shot from the top of the key tied the contest at 69-69 with 48 seconds to go to help get the game to overtime.
  • DSU got seven points from Cotton in the overtime period, including four late free throws to help seal the win.
  • Delta State was 17-for-41 from the three-point line as a team, including a 13-for-25 mark in the second half and overtime.
  • Eckerd out-rebounded Delta State 40-36, and doubled up the Statesmen in the paint, 40-20.
  • Brooks was one-point off of a career-high, as he poured in 26 points, all in the second half and overtime, and shot 5-of-10 from three-point territory.
  • Cotton (20 points), Dietrich (17 points, 5-of-12 from three), and Kasey Walker-Gregg (14 points) all scored in double figures for the Green and White.
