VICKSBURG, Miss. -- The Delta State University Lady Statesmen split a Friday afternoon doubleheader with the University of West Georgia.
The Lady Statesmen dropped game one 6-0 before taking a 7-6 victory in game two. In game one,
Raegan Stafford had the only hit of the game. In game two, a late run scored by
Summer Cryder on a wild pitch proved to be the difference as DSU would seal the win.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UWG took an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first after a single to right field by Kayla Hughes. Alley Taylor then doubled, followed by a Kristyn Nix double down right field line to close out the inning tacking on the last two runs.
- In the top of the fourth, Hannah Scarbrough would hit a single to score Leslie Brogden extending the Lady Wolves lead 5-0.
- In the top of the seventh, Nix would single to left field to bring in the final run of the game giving the Wolves the 6-0 win over the Lady Statesmen.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Olivia Burns (1-4) took the loss for Delta State. Burns gave up six hits and five runs in three and a third innings.
- Brookelyn Sweeney would come in to relieve Burns. Sweeney gave up one run off three hits in three and two thirds innings of work.
- Kya Draper (3-0) would earn the win for the Wolves. Draper gave up one hit and no runs in seven innings of work.
NOTABLES (GM1)
- Stafford had the only hit of the game for the Green and White.
GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lady Wolves took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first after a home run to left center by Kayla Hughes scoring Ashley Ellison.
- The Lady Statesmen would take the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the first after Taylor Picou hit a home run to left field, scoring Jenny Griggers and Summer Cryder.
- In the top of the sixth, West Georgia would tack on four runs to take back the lead 6-3. Cassie Henderson would single to center field and a muffed throw would allow two RBI's to cross the plate. Madison Slappey and Hannah Scarbrough would account for the last two RBI's of the inning.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Statesmen would add a run to the board 6-4 after a single to right center by Picou scoring Stafford.
- Lady Statesmen would win the game in the bottom of the seventh with scoring three runs. Hope Harbin singled to right center for two RBI's. Cryder would end the game as she crossed home plate on a wild pitch.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Lacey Coats (5-2) started and earned the win for the Green and White and gave up nine hits and six runs in seven innings of work.
- Morgan Goree (0-1) took the loss for West Georgia. Goree gave up six runs off four hits through six innings.
- Lexi Close would come in to relive Goree. Close would give up one run on one hit.
NOTABLES (GM 2)
- Picou went 2-for-3 and had four RBI's on the day. Three of the RBI's came from the three-run homer in the bottom of the first.
- Harbin would set a new personal record for runs batted in with two.
