CARROLLTON, Ga. – Hunter Riggins scattered five hits over seven shutout innings to lead Delta State University baseball team (3-5, 3-5 GSC) to a 13-0 win over the University of West Georgia (5-5, 5-6 GSC) in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday at Cole Field. West Georgia claimed a 13-10 win in the nightcap to split the twin bill.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 1)
- The Statesmen scored three runs in the first inning to take a quick 3-0 lead. Hayden White hit a two-run home run and Kirkland Trahan from third when Myles Christian reached on a fielder's choice.
- Five runs crossed in the fourth to push the lead to 8-0. Chad Ragland scored when Trahan reached on a fielder's choice and Blayke Dendy hit a three-run home run. Christian scored the fifth run o the inning on a wild pitch.
- Dendy singled home run in the fifth to give DSU a 9-0 advantage.
- Darek Sargent hit a three-run home run and another run scored on a throwing error to make the score 13-0 in the sixth.
ON THE MOUND (GM 1)
- Riggins (1-1) scattered four hits over seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts to earn the complete-game win.
- Jake Rasmussen (2-1) gave up eight runs on nine hits with five walks and three strikeouts as the pitcher of record for UWG.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GM 2)
- West Georgia scored six runs in the first inning to take a 6-0 lead. Dan Oberst had a two-run home run and Garrett Sheffield had a two-run double to highlight the innings.
- A White two-run home run cut the deficit to 6-2 in the bottom of the first.
- Collin Moore had a solo homer in the top of the second to push UWG's lead to 7-2.
- UWG scored two runs in the fifth to make the score 9-2. One run scored on a DSU throwing error and the second scored on a Moore sac-fly.
- Blake Wolferding hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 9-4 contest.
- UWG went up 11-4 on a Joe Skinner RBI single and an Oberst sac-fly in the fifth.
- The Statesmen answered in the bottom of the fifth. Ragland singled and later scored on a UWG throwing error and Sargent came home when Dendy reached on a fielder's choice.
- The Wolves scored a run in the seventh and a run in the eighth to build the lead to 13-6.
- The Statesmen waddled the UWG to 13-10 on a Barlow belted a two-run home run and a Ragland had a two-run triple.
- Peyton Berry came on to record the final out in the eighth to strand Ragland at third before recording a scoreless ninth to close the game.
ON THE MOUND (GM 2)
- Sawyer Steele (1-0) earned the win, giving up four runs on five hits with six strikeouts in 3.2 innings of relief.
- Berry (3) struck out two in 1.1 innings to earn the save.
- DSU starter Christian Day (1-1) yielded six runs, five earned, on six hits to take the loss.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Ragland finished game one 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
- Dendy led the Statesmen with four RBI to go along with a single and a home run in game one.
- White had two hits, including a two two-run home run, while Trahan also had a pair of hits in the opener.
- Brody Wortham was 2-for-4 to lead the Wolves in game one.
- White had his fourth home run of the season to go along with two RBI in game two.
- Wolferding had a home run and two RBI, while Barlow had a two-run home run in game two.
- Skinner went 3-for-4 with three RBI in game two for UWG.
- Oberst and Moore drove in three runs apiece for the Wolves in the nightcap.
