CARROLLTON, Ga. -- The Delta State University baseball team hit four home runs and pounded out 13 hits as the Statesmen captured a 12-5 win over the University of West Georgia on Sunday afternoon to take two of the weekend's three games from the Wolves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- An error and a base hit allowed the Wolves to plate a pair of runs in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead.
- That lead held until the bottom of the third inning, when Donovon Shows launched his first career home run for the Statesmen to draw DSU within a run.
- West Georgia responded with an RBI single from Blake Wortham as the Wolves held a 3-1 advantage.
- A solo home run off the bat of Jake Barlow brought DSU within a run, 3-2, in the fourth inning.
- The Statesmen jumped in front in the home half of the fifth inning, as Kirkland Trahan doubled home a pair of runs and Jake Barlow added another RBI on a single to make it 5-3.
- A Dan Oberst sacrifice fly make it 5-4 DSU in the sixth, but a Chad Ragland RBI single and a Hayden White RBI double pushed the Statesmen ahead 7-4 after six frames.
- UWG again added a run in the seventh, courtesy of a Connor Mish groundout, but a Donovon Shows RBI single and two wild pitches plated three runs for the Statesmen to make it 10-5.
- The game's final two runs came courtesy of solo home runs by Barlow and Wyatt Pratt in the eighth inning.
ON THE MOUND
- Zizmann notched his first win for the Statesmen, as he worked five innings to get the win.
- Zizmann allowed three earned runs, four total, on seven hits and struck out one.
- Kole Kittrell also gave up one run and two walks in one inning of work.
- Matthew Sneed worked two scoreless frames and allowed two hits, while allowed one hit and notched a strikeout in one scoreless relief inning.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Barlow finished the day 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI, and three runs scored.
- Shows, starting his third game of the year, went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored.
- Ragland notched another multi-hit game for the Statesmen, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored, and a walk.
