ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- The Delta State University women's soccer team defeated Ouachita Baptist University in comeback fashion on Sunday afternoon.
After OBU took a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute,
Anna Whitehead and
Diana Okechukwu each scored a goal for the Green and White to give the Lady Statesmen the win. The victory also gave new head coach
Mark Hiller his first career win at the helm of the Lady Statesmen.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ouachita Baptist had the first opportunity of the game in the third minute. A free kick came after a foul by Diana Okechukwu, but OBU missed it wide left.
- Addison Mills had the first opportunity with a free kick for DSU in the fifth minute, but the shot was saved by the Tigers.
- Two more quick shots in the next two minutes from Niamh Jestin and Rylee McGee were saved by Ouachita's goalkeeper.
- The next shot did not come until the 39th minute when Mathilde Skovbakke hit one wide left for the Lady Statesmen.
- Madison Lafontaine had one more shot before the half for DSU but had it go wide right.
- Amanda Hilliard picked up her first save in the 46th minute on a shot from Jaymee Dotson.
- Dotson then came back and scored the first goal of the game in the 47th minute.
- DSU then turned up the pressure with shots from Carra Hymel and Mia Ramirez, but both were off frame.
- Anna Whitehead got the equalizer in the 66th minute for her sixth career goal.
- Then, in the 82nd minute, Diana Okechukwu got the game winner striking one into the bottom left corner of the net.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- DSU out-shot OBU 11-9 with both teams having five shots on goal.
- The Lady Statesmen also had 10 fouls to the Tigers three.
- Six different players registered a shot for DSU.
NOTABLES
- Okechukwu scored her 10th career goal, which moves her into a five way tie for 5th place all time in career goals. She tied Lakyn Cryder, Bridget Duke, Kortney Harris, and Jasmine McGill in the rankings.
- Hilliard's four saves gives her 152 all-time, ranks fourth best in DSU history.
- It was the first win over OBU since October 23, 2011 for the Lady Statesmen. Last season the game was tied at 1-1 when weather forced the game to be canceled.
