CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University Lady Statesmen softball team swept the Reddies on Tuesday afternoon at University Field. They shut out Henderson State 7-0 in game one and then held off the Reddies in extra innings to pick up a 4-3 win in game two.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lady Statesmen took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A single to center field by Kailyn Lofton started off the inning scoring Summer Cryder.
- After a single by Hope Harbin and a throwing error, Lofton scored to close out the inning.
- In the bottom of the second, DSU extended their lead to 3-0. Katelyn Hayman grounded out to second base which brought Taylor Picou across the plate.
- In the third, Lofton's solo homerun lifted the Green and White to a 4-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Raegan Stafford doubled to center field which brought Hayman and Haley Simpson home to score to tack on two more runs to make it a 6-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Statesmen sealed their 7-0 win over the Reddies with a single to center field by Brookelyn Sweeney to score Cryder.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Lacey Coats (11-2) started and earned the win for the Green and White. Coats gave up only four hits and no runs in seven innings of work.
- Becca Almond (0-5) would take the loss for HSU. Almond gave up four hits and four runs in three innings of work.
- Krystal Lindsey came in relief for Almond. Lindsey gave up three runs with six hits in three innings of work.
NOTABLES (GM1)
- Stafford and Lofton both were tied for the most RBI's in game one with two apiece.
- It was the first home run of the season for Lofton.
GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Reddies took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. A two-run homerun by Abbie Moore scored Kaitlyn O'Quinn.
- The Lady Statesmen would tie the game 2-2 in the bottom of the first. Kailyn Lofton doubled to right field to score Summer Cryder. To end the inning, Lofton scored on a wild pitch.
- Neither team was able to score again in regulation.
- In the top of the eight, Olivia Burns walked in Kailey Reese with bases loaded to take a 3-2 lead over the Lady Statesmen.
- All three outs in the eighth were at home plate with Julie Schereumann tagging two and Burns tagging one.
- In the bottom of the eight, the Lady Statesmen would tie the game 3-3 with a double form Karley Bloesch to score Stafford.
- Harbin caught a fly ball in left field and threw out a HSU runner at home to keep the game tied at 3-3 in the top of the ninth inning.
- In the bottom of the ninth, DSU would add on the winning run to make it 4-3. Hope Harbin would score on a throwing error to seal the game for the Green and White.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Olivia Burns (3-6) started and earned the win for the Green and White. Burns gave up nine hits and three runs in nine innings of work.
- Mallory Brewer (1-7) took the loss for the Reddies. Brewer gave up four runs off five hits through eight innings.
NOTABLES (GM 2)
- Lofton and Bloesch had the only two RBI's of the game.
