CLINTON, Miss. – Hunter Riggins tossed a three-hit shutout and the Delta State University baseball team (23-14, 20-13 GSC) hit four home runs in an 8-0 win over Mississippi College (15-19, 12-17, GSC) on Friday at Frierson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The was scoreless until the top of the fourth. Jake Barlow belted a solo home run to center field with two outs to give the Statesmen a 1-0 lead.
- Hayden White hit a three-run home run to give the Statesmen a 4-0 lead in the fifth.
- Wyatt Pratt's lead off a solo home run in the sixth pushed the lead to 5-0.
- Blayke Dendy hit a two-run round-tripper to make the score 7-0 in the seventh.
- Sargent doubled and scored on a White double to extend the lead to 8-0 in the eighth.
ON THE MOUND
- Hunter Riggins (7-4) struck out eight and scattered three hits with no walks over nine scoreless innings to earn the win.
- MC starter Peyton Russell (3-4) allowed five runs on nine hits with five strikeouts to suffer the loss.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Riggins has pitched seven plus innings in his last eights starts on the mound.
- Riggins posted his ninth complete game and fifth shutout of his career.
- Delta State turned three double plays in the game and have turned 36 on the season, ranking second in the nation and in the GSC.
- The Statesmen took over the GSC lead in home runs, belting three for a total of 53 on the season.
