Barlow Named ABCA Second-Team All-American

White, Riggins Earn ABCA All-South Region Honors

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Jake Barlow added another honor to his growing list that now includes 2021 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II Second-Team All-American released on Thursday, June 10, 2021.

Additionally, Hunter Riggins and Hayden White were selected ABCA All-South Region First-Team and Second Teams, respectively.

The teams were voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division II All-America Committee. 


Barlow earned D2CAA and NCBWA All-South Region First-Team honors earlier this week in addition to All-GSC First-Team accolades. The Jonesville, La., product earned D2CCA Second-Team All-American and NCBWA Third-Team All-American in addition to ABCA, D2CCA, and NCBWA First-Team All-South Region in 2019. 
 
The junior leads the Statesmen 19 home runs, two triples, and 61 RBI while slugging a team-best .721 starting all 47 contests for the Statesmen. Barlow is third on the team with a. 328 batting average and is second with 46 runs scored and 12 doubles. He ranks second in the GSC and 11th in the nation in home runs, while his RBI mark ranks ninth nationally.  

Barlow's 19 home runs are tied for fifth on the Delta State single season home run list with Zack Shannon (2017) and his 32 career home runs stand seventh on the all-time home runs list.

list. The Hernando, Miss., native earned ABCA Third-Team All-American, D2CCA and NCBWA Honorable Mention All-American and ABCA, D2CCA, NCBWA First-Team All-South Region honors in 2019.  
 
Riggins has made 16 starts on the mound boasting a 9-4 record, a 2.90 ERA, and four complete games. He leads the Statesmen in innings pitched (115.0) and has 91 strikeouts against 28 walks this season. The junior leads the GSC in innings pitched, ranks second in wins and strikeouts looking, and sixth in total strikeouts. 

White also and All-GSC Second-Team honors while starting in all 48 games for the Statesmen in 2021. White also earned GSC and NCBWA Region Player of the

Week honors one time during the season. The junior hit a team-best .345 and finished second with 15 doubles, 11 home runs, one triple, and 45 RBI. He was also second on the team with a .599 slugging percentage and a .425 on base percentage. White ranked second in the GSC with 69 hits, fifth in home runs (11) and sixth in RBI (45), doubles (150 and runs scored (47).

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.

The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Rudy Garbalosa of Lynn University. Also on the committee are Randy Betten (Cal Poly Pomona), Jamie Detillion (Grand Valley State University), Jim Gantt (Catawba College), Rick Giannetti (Dominican College), Alex Koch (Wayne State College), Rob Penders (St. Edward's University) and Joe Spano (Mercyhurst University).
