CLEVELAND, Miss. – Despite being down a man for the majority of the match, the Delta State University men's soccer team used three goals to defeat the Mississippi University for Women on Tuesday afternoon at Delta Field.
Branden Rogers scored the first goal of the game, his first career goal as a Statesman. In his first start in goal for the Green and White,
Colton Mueller pitched a shutout in goal for DSU. It was the second shutout of the season for the Statesmen.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Clair Cox IV had the first shot of the day in the 11th minute but the shot was punched away by MUW's goalkeeper.
- In the 23rd minute, Mike Ruhl's foul earned a red card.
- In the 42nd minute, Branden Rogers scored his first career goal on a header off of an assist by Remi Emeriau.
- In the second half, the Owls turned on the pressure as Mueller had several saves.
- Mathis Hardy scored his third goal of the season in the rain in the 72nd minute.
- Five minutes later, Remi Emeriau scored his third goal of the season to give DSU their final goal.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Delta State doubled the number of shots MUW took, 14-7.
- The Green and White totaled six corners in the game.
- Delta State currently has the second-most goals scored in the Gulf South Conference with 12. Only Christian Brothers has scored more with 14 goals.
- This was the first meeting all-time between the two teams.
