CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's soccer team lost a heartbreaker to Lee University on Sunday afternoon at Delta Field.
Jae'lasha Julien gave the Lady Statesmen the lead in the 62nd minute off of a corner kick, but Lee answered with two goals in the last 13 minutes to take a 2-1 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lee had a big opportunity in the second minute as Lauren Weimer had a breakaway and got past goalkeeper Amanda Hilliard, but Blanca Osorio cleared it off the line.
- The first opportunity for DSU came a few minutes later, when Nicola Hauk and Mia Ramirez both had shots but they missed wide.
- Osorio had the best chance in the first half but her shot was saved.
- Julien opened the scoring in the 62nd minute after a couple deflections on a corner kick.
- In the 75th minute, Lee earned a penalty kick, but Kate Dirkse shot it over the goal.
- The equalizer came in the 77th minute when Weimer took a pass over the top and snuck it past Hilliard.
- The go ahead goal came in the 85th minute when Wiemer scored again on a shot well outside the 18-yard box.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- DSU had nine shots to Lee's 12 while both teams had five shots on target..
- Osorio, Madison Lafontaine, and Jennifer Lopez all earned yellow cards for DSU.
- The Lady Statesmen and the Lady Flames had played 178 minutes of scoreless soccer dating back to last spring when Lee and DSU played to a 0-0 draw.
- Julien scored the first goal for the Lady Statesmen against Lee since a Jasmine McGill tally in the 86th minute on September 15, 2017.
