CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- The Statesmen (1-10 overall, 1-9 GSC) held a 37-28 lead over Lee (6-2, 6-2) at the halftime break, but the Flames outscored Delta State 45-28 in the second half of their 73-65 win on Friday night. The Flames shot 53.3 percent from the field in the second half, including 5-9 from beyond the arc, compared to Delta State's 38.5 percent showing after the break.
Maalik Cartwright led all scorers with 22 points on an 8-11 performance from the field. He also added 6 rebounds, an assist, and a block to his stat line.
Sam Smith joined him in double figures with his 19-point, 13-rebound double-double effort in his 33 minutes of action. Five of his rebounds were on the offensive rebounds. Delta State also held a 36-30 advantage over Lee in paint points.

Jonathan Knight, and
Wyatt Bell also recorded 9, 8, and 7 points respectively. They all hit from three-point range as well, with Knight connecting on two of his attempts.
